Summary
Remember!
|
|
- Always follow 5 Interview steps
- Remember to write the narrative using the respondent’s own words EXACTLY as he/she has narrated them. Record it in the language of the respondent including all local terms mentioned. Do not edit or correct a respondent’s story. All details are important, even ones you personally feel may be insignificant or not helpful
- Be sure to place events in chronological order
- Try not to interrupt and take notes
- Always end an interview by reading back the narrative you have recorded. Give the respondent your full understanding of the history, in chronological order and listing the key symptoms. Once the respondent confirms your recount, get them to sign off on the narrative
